After getting off the car Ferry on St. John with the Liberty, $40.00 for the trip and $4.00 port charge, we needed to find Route 20 which is the North Shore Road to the beaches. We knew we wanted to go to Trunk and Cinnamon.
Got to Trunk early, so didn't have to pay anything to get in. The snorkeling trail was cool and there were an amazing amount of fish. My first scare was seeing a tarpon, who I thought was a shark. SO BIG!!! Headed onto Cinnamon....very nice beach with again good snorkeling. These are 2 beaches not to miss.
Decided to take the Cinnamon Trail for a little hike across the street. It was nice and cool. Saw old ruins.
Headed back into town and parked at Mongoos Junction. A nice place to shop. Found Margarita Phils. I heard alot about this place on this board. The food was good, but for a lunch it was kind of pricey. They even charged us $3.50 for bottled water which I think is rediculous.
Got home to Sapphire did some snorkeling there...again...great snorkeling.
That night was pizza in a Senor Pizza, which wasn't really bad at all. After awhile we got tired of going out and just feeling so full.
Saturday we decided to head into Charlotte Amalie. Boy, were we lucky....no ships in that day.
We headed up the hill to find the 92 steps (actually over 100). Great view from there.
We bought our Cruzan Rum, some t shirts and then stopped at Amici's for a couple beers.
Then onto Cardow's Jewelers. Husband bought an anniversary band for me...yeah! It's gorgeous really and the people there at Cardow's are very nice. You can even buy from them at www.cardow.com.
It was so hot on Saturday, that we decided to just pick up something from Subway in Red Hook and head back to the beach for some snorkeling.
Dinner....good one. Highly recommended in Red Hook is Molly McGuires. Husband had a Ceasar Salad and I had the strangest quesadilla I ever ate. It had vegetables in it, but was still your basic chicken quesadilla. Molly's has a nice seating area right on the docks and the service is very good.
After this is was an early evening for us because of our trip to Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke the next morning.
On Sunday we got to the docts at 7:15. We were booked by Calypso on the Breakaway. Great crew....Kevin and Christine. Continued over to St. John to pick up 4 more people..this makes 8 and it was a very large boat. The trip costs. 125.00 PP and is well worth it. Also $20.00 custom fee. They serve great fruit and different kinds of breads for breakfast and as soon as your own you're drinking either bushwackers, blood mary's, etc. It was a gorgeous day. We started out at the Baths. Really cool. Then it was on a small reef called Diamond Reef. Saw a sea turtle there although I thought snorkeling at Trunk was alot better. We ended up at lunch at a place called Marina Cay...absolutely beautiful place. Christine had already taken our order on the boat, so it was ready for us when we got there. I would highly recommend at trip like this. Lunch was $64.00. Then it was on Jost Van Dyke. What a crazy place. They anchor the boat in the harbor and you swim in. It was definetly party city here at the Soggy Dollar Bar. Very pretty place though and I would love to go there again. We bought a few t-shirts. This was an 7:15 - 4:30 trip and well worth it. Get out on the water and see all the beautiful scenery. Even though it was an expensive day. It's a day I'll always remember.
Part 3 coming up.
Connie: I am glad you liked it! Maybe the quesadilla was an IRISH one, which is why it was strange! 😉 They do great fish and chips, chicken fried steak, Irish items etc.
It didn't say Irish, but I guess it is...they just put alot of things in it that I wasn't use to, but boy it was great. Forgot to mention they have really good Bushwackers.
Gained 4 pounds over 8 days....lol
