Does anyone know if the public parking lots in St. Thomas are free? Specifically Charlotte Amalie and Red Hook. Trying to decide when to taxi and when to drive.

Any additional advice is appreciated.
Thanks!

There is a free underground parking lot across from Duffys Love Shack (underground). It's very convenient depending on what time of the year you go. We went last May and always got a parking spot there.

There is a public parking lot downtown next to Ft Christian. The underground parking at American Yacht Harbor is for people doing business (shopping, eating, etc) there. You can and may get booted if you try to, say, park and go to St John for the day. There is a big parking lot in Red Hook across from the National Park road. It is supposed to be for St John ferry parking. There is also a new paid parking lot up the road behind Marina Market.

East Ender...is the lot near Ft. Christian free or is there a fee?

We were in STT the week before Xmas. We went to Red Hook several nights & always got a space underground next to Molly Malones. There is a time limit for parking there so I would not leave it all day if you go to STJ.

Hi EE,

"There is a big parking lot in Red Hook across from the National Park road"

Where is the National Park Road?

Do you know the price of the new, fee-based lot behind marina market?

The Ft. Christian lot is not free. You take a ticket when you go in & pay the person on the way out.

I've parked recently in the Ft. Christian lot and the one behind Marina Market; entered both around 7:30am, left both around 5-6pm. Paid $10.00 at the Red Hook lot and $5.00 at the downtown lot...well worth the $$ to avoid the boot!
Good luck!

Bluie: The National Park road: Okay, as you are coming toward Red Hook from Food Center as you veer left past the Nazareth turn- the road is there on your right. It is closed to vehicular traffic from sunset to sometime in the morning. BTW it's a great place to run or walk for your exercise. I don't know if they charge for parking at that lot, I have never seen anyone collecting.

Menicia's Parking (sp?) is the new lot behind Marina Market. $2/hour.
