We are planning to go to Charlotte Amalie to shop one day. How difficult is it to find parking around the shops? Please let me know where parking lots are located in that area.

The public parking lot just East of Fort Christian on the waterfront West of the Federal building is $1 hr. and fairly large. There are quite a few 2 hour limit spaces throughout town.

exit zero is right about this parking lot, just be careful and look to see if there are spaces available before you pay, i have already paid and the lot is full. otherwise just drive thru ,town and there is more parking if i remember near a holiday inn. a little bit of walking to get back to town but worth it. i have always found parking even with carnival going on, it just takes some time, have fun.

You pay when you leave the parking lot - you get a time stamp ticket on the way in.

My advice: go early weekdays or go on the weekend and more space is available. Downtown workers take a lot of parking spaces and you could drive endlessly with no results. I know, I did that. Went back Saturday morn and found a spot immediately and had a great time

Also watch the cruise ship schedules. I can usually find parking in the lot and on the street by the straw market with the exception of when multiple ships are in and the taxi drivers take over that area.
