Has anybody done the skyride to paradise point? Is it worth doing? What is the best time to go? I read on this website that they have a special on wednesdays after 5pm for $5... anybody know about this?
We did the Skyride, but it's been about 7 years ago so my memory of it is a little fuzzy. There are terrific views from there and a neat little gift shop. I can't remember for sure, but I think there was a little bar there as well and a short walking trail.
We thought it was worth it. We went later in the day and got some really good pictures of the cruise ships that were there that day and Charlotte Amalie.
I say go for it!
I was just there last Friday. The Da Da Wine Down (monthly wine tasting) is now held there on the last Fri of the month at 5:30.
That $5 price is now for locals only, and you have to show local, local, photo ID. The regular price is $16, which is comparable to similar skyrides in other tourist areas.
At 10:30 and 1:30 they have a bird show - I haven't had a chance to see that yet.
There's also a nature trail up there. I haven't gotten very far on it (only becuase I'm usually taking the Sky Ride after work, and I'm loaded down with bags!), but I did see some hummingbirds when I was up there last week.
I don't know if your pass is good for all day, but if so, I'd try to see the bird show, and then go back again at 5 and stay for the sunset/twilight views. It's open late on Wed, so that's the best day to go. The sunset views are soooooooo romantic! Breathtaking.
We recently received the updated season schedule information for Paradise Point so wanted to add a couple things.
Their regular rate is $16 as ms411 mentioned.
For Wednesday's sunset happy hour party it is $5 (after 5pm & with local ID or hotel room key).
They have added another bird show, so its 10:30am, 1:30pm & 3:30pm.
Check their website for the most recent details http://www.stthomasskyride.com/.
John - you had been asking about Happy Hours in another thread, Paradise Point for the sunset Happy Hour is a lot of fun. Check out their website for details.
