Hello All!!

I posted this on the relocation board too, but thought those of you visiting would like to know about Paradise Point on STT.

Paradise Point has great views, food and drink, along with wonderful stores! It is located above Havensight and has a fun tram ride to the top.

Pirates Chest was AWESOME!! If you like shipwreck coins, like pieces of eight etc., then you will LOVE the Pirates Chest! There is also all kinds of art prints, cookbooks, landscape books, and many unique trinkets to take home with you! I fell in love with the store as you can tell! LOL!

Wednesday night is locals night up there and it's a blast! Have fun!

In my almost 9 years here, I have spent LOADS of time up there! The views are great,
, the drinks are cold, and, as Pink said, the Pirate's Chest is a waaaayy cool store! I think they won the "Best of the VI" competition 2 years in a row for "Best Souvenirs".

Is the tram still free on Wednesday afternoon's? Or have they changed it to just free for the locals?

ps....the ring that Marty helped my hubby get me is still as pretty as the day I recieved it. It's a Larimar stone & I get losts of comments about it. Thanks again Marty!

Marty....... Thanks for the photo addition! I took photos up there, but have no way to put them online. It really does look much nicer in person though!

Sitter......... I think locals ride the tram free on Wednesdays only. Feel free to correct me if I am wrong! Did your hubby buy your ring at the Pirates Chest?

I'm not sure where Marty took him to buy the ring!! I am pretty sure it was at Pirates Chest. That's Marty's friend.
Like I said...it is a beautiful ring!! It was for our 25yr wedding anniversary. Then Marty's friend (a different one)came out to Sapphire to re-new our vows. None of this was planned before we left for our trip, so it was soo fun!! (I LOVE spontaneous!!)

At one point there was a free tram ride (with one beer or rum punch!) on Wednesdays. Now they charge all. You can buy a year long pass. I have to say I haven't been since they started charging. 🙁

Last year Paradise Point hosted the Dah Dah Wine Downs, and the tram was free on the last Friday of the month for the tastings. Maybe they'll host again this season. Look for ads in the Daily News or check with the guy who owns/runs the Delly Deck.

I think they also have something every other Mon night until 7 with live entertainment. You have to call the bar. Usually for those special night events, the fare for locals is $5 (when it's not free!).

Last year we were able to go up to the ticket booth on Wednesday evening (after 5pm) and told them we were staying on island, ask for the local rate and show our room key and payed $5 (if not mistaken). Has this changed?

sitter......... it probably was from the Pirates Chest! His jewlery is really nice! Your story is very romantic.

East ender......... You could always drive up there. It's worth it right??

ms and Island time...... Thanks for the tips! I called Shawn, the owner of the Pirates Chest and he confirmed that there are no FREE rides anymore......... That's a bummer..............Taxi's will drive you up there too which may be a bit cheaper than the tram.

Cheers!

Wednesday nights are still good with live entertainment, The Pirate's Chest is open late, the bar has drink specials and appetizers, you can drive or taxi up, the tram is running, too, with a price for everyone of only $5, and locals yearly pass is only $29.95. Can't go wrong on a Wednesday night!!

You are such a GREAT salesman Marty!
Thanks for clearing that all up for us.
We will pay the $5 for sure...it's well worth it!

K Marty...help me out with this one.
Lindsay's flight comes in on Wednesday night at 4:14pm. We are staying over at Cinnamon Campground, so we probably will ferry over without the car, taxi over to the airport to pick her up, do the Paradise Point with her, then is there a ferry to get us back over to St. John yet that night....or do we have to sleep up at the Point!??!

You make me blush! Stop it! Haha!

If you are still car-less, then, yes, there are ferries until midnight, every hour, on the hour. Have fun!!

You can now drive up again? Last year they had the gate closed just above the tram parking lot and you had to take the tram or hike up the hill 🙁

I spoke to them on the phone today, just to be sure (even though I knew the answer), and yes, you can drive up...

East ender........ They did close the road for a while, but it's open again. We drove up day and night. Apparently closing the road was bad for business.

Hope this helps!

Yep, as long as they are open, you can drive up. They only close the gate when they are closed now. You can even call them at 340-774-9809 to confirm this.
