I just emailed Paradise Point to see when there free tram rides started on Wednesdays in April. They emailed me back and said that the tram rides would not be free. Anyone know anything about that?

The free tram on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. is a locals-only special. If you want to go there for the free ride, you shouldn't e-mail them. All the locals know about it, and if we had questions, we would just call. Go there and get on the tram after 5 p.m., if anyone hassles you, just say that you just moved to the island about 2 weeks ago and haven't gotten around to getting your VI license yet.

Whatever you do, PLEASE don't contact them again regarding the locals only special, as that might make them stop doing it for us. If you are uncertain as to whether or not it is going to be running on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. when you are here in April, you can always re-post this question in March and we can approach the topic again, then.

You're gonna love it up there! Absolutely beautiful!

Dale: The Wednesday sunset party and free tram ride is *not* a locals only deal. It is well advertised in the papers. Don't worry!

Hi, EastEnder,

I just got off the phone with Alice, in management, and she says "Yes, it IS a locals special, but a lot of tourists know about it and they are not turned away." They try not to advertise towards the tourists for free, but many of them read the Island Trader and find out about it that way. If a tourist were to call or e-mail, they will be told that it is $15 r/t p/p.

Marty: It is not advertised as a local special and one could argue that from the ads in the paper. Personally, I think that the "local special" concept is probably illegal. Since the Wednesday sunset party happens after the cruise ships leave, I guess they figure anyone left on island is local!

I'm only going by what the management said! I'm sure that a lawyer could argue it either way! All I know, is that anyone can ride the tram on Wednesdays at 5 p.m. for free.....WOO-HOOO!!!
