Hi All
We'll be arriving in St Thomas in the late afternoon for our bare boat charter. What do you think of my family staying overnight on the boat (no a/c) at CYOA near French town? I hear it gets a little dicey there at night but I'm not sure if it's unsafe to stay on the boat.We sure don't mind warm nights and lively locals but we would like a good safe nights sleep.

The no A/C is the only dicey part I see. The area of French town in which you will be staying has some great places for dinners in ALL price ranges - including McDonalds!

If you are doing a sleepaboard and must stay at the dock, you will be fine. Avoid wandering too far off the beaten path on foot and stay reasonably sober 🙂

If you are just getting a late start you might want to move off the dock and get out into Elephant Bay or Long Bay just to catch some breezes to make sleeping a bit more comfortable.

When are you coming?

Pamela

CYOA isn't that bad. Ya there wont be that much of a breeze, but hey, I lived on a boat in the harbor for 3 years so suck it up for 1 night. Betsy's bar in french town has great food and the prices aren't bad either. their are a couple of more upscale restaurants there too. for breakfast I would suggest the french town deli.

You could also ask CYOA to have a mooring for you for the night - plenty of hatches and breeze that way -- safe no matter where you are on the boat dock or mooring - not dicey at all.
