We're chartering out of Tortola in December, and want to spend a night in Cruz Bay. Are overnight moorings available? If so, it first come, first serve. If not, is anchoring permitted in the bay?

John,
There are no moorings in Cruz Bay. What you want to do AFTER YOU CLEAR CUSTOMS is head over to the National Park. For $15 you can pick up a mooring in the park waters and enjoy. The moorings start near Caneel Bay and travel on around through the park. They are available only if your yacht is under 65 feet. If you are on a bareboat, please check with your charter company as they may not allow you to take the vessel into Cruz Bay. In which case, pick up a mooring in Caneel Bay (free during the day) and dinghy into Customs with Captain, crew and all passengers.
Enjoy!
