My wife and I are excited about a much needed break from the cold and snow here in Michigan. Our trip includes a week on Antigua and a week on St John.
We fly to St Thomas Feb. 22, stay overnight at Best Western Caribe next to the airport and then fly Liat to Antigua the next day. Then back to St Thomas March 2 to meet friends to begin our stay on St John for a week. Can't wait!
My question for this helpful forum is where can we catch a nice dinner with outdoor seating with a great view on St Thomas that we can get to by taxi from the hotel.
We have stayed on island many times and are quite familiar with St Thomas but we have always rented a car to get around. We will only be there from 4:00 on Saturday to around 1:30 Sunday so doesn't make sense to rent a car.
Any suggestions will be appreciated.
I highly recommend Banana Tree Grille at Bluebeard's Castle. Not specifically "outside" but open to the breezes, the panoramic view of town and the WICO dock is phenomenal. Always good food at a reasonable price, good service and lovely ambiance. Ask for a front table and go when the cruise ships are leaving!
Edited to add their website:

Oceana is located in Frenchtown and is excellent with nice open air dining basically on the water's edge. You may wish to make reservations in advance and ask for a table at front with view of the water and Water Island lights.
There are quite a few nice places so depends on what you preferences might be.
Both locations mentioned above have historical merits as well. Frenchtown is closer to Best Western and has lots of other bars and restaurants in the immediate vicinity so you could walk around afterwards for a drink at another nearby location before going back to your hotel.
Banana Tree Grill with give you a higher vantage point of cruise ship docks and harbour.
I haven't eaten lately at Mafolie Hotel which like BTG also has scenic views of the town and harbor at a higher elevation than BTG. You should make reservations in advance for whichever location you choose as it is "high season" and a Saturday night.

Sounds like you're going to have a fabulous vacation.
Enjoy!
PS/Many restaurants close on Monday nights so good to check/make reservations in advance for any
dining experience on any island you will be visiting.
There's a new restaurant at Caribbean Beach now, and the menu looks decent. You might want to check it first before settling on taking a cab somewhere.
Caribbean Beach? Do you mean the Best Western Carib Beach resort on the airport road?
What's the name of the hotel/restaurant on the point closest to airport?

I believe that's the BW Carib Beach.
I've heard good things about Atlantic Seafood (the former Ashley's) which is right across from the parking lot entrance to the airport.
I don't know if it's still there but it's on the point at the end of the right side facing beach) of Lindberg Bay after the tot lot playground and the turn is a left turn as you are heading towards the airport right before the car rental lot.
BW is next to the Beachcomber hotel there on the beach.
Atlantic Seafood is okay but you're basically dining in a parking lot.
Not quiet a romantic setting tho the food is pretty good at lunchtimes.
Does the BW Caribe Beach hotel have a new restaurant? We stayed there last year and had dinner there and were not too impressed. Does anybody know how the restaurant at the BW sister resort across the bay is?
Yes, the Best Western Carib Beach now has a new restaurant open for happy hour d andinner only. Ocean side bistro is the name. Some entrees:
Surf and Turf $24
Spice rubbed snapper $22
Pork Roulade $22
Phone 340-774-2525
Excuse typos.
Oh, they do serve breakfast from 6-9:30, but that's not on their full page ad.
