We rented Villa Capiz through Carefree Getaways for June. This morning I received an email stating that Kathy McLaughlin with Island Getaways would be managing the villa from now on. The booking is still through Carefree though and will continue to be.

I know villa owners switch management companies but is it common practice to book through one agency but have the property managed by another?

I took 2.3 years off my brain thinking capacity to finally come to the villa decision so now I can say I am more than a little nervous about the change. Should I be concerned about this? Can anyone give me any positive feedback about Island Getaways? Thanks!

Don't worry about this new development. We've rented from Kathy McLaughlin (Islnd Getaways) several times and she's great. I'm sure all that has happened is that the owner has changed agents and it should not affect you at all. I'm not sure who you might expect to meet you at the ferry since you booked with Carefree and I assume they got the commission for your stay it would seem to me that Carefree will be the one to take care of your arrival but time will tell. Anyway don't worry about this at all. Don't worry.....be happy. You're going to STJ you lucky duck!!

A property being managed by a company other than the booking agent is more common than not. Many of the properties are listed with multiple agents, but only managed by one. Thus, if you rent from any of the others, you will be renting from an agent other than the property manager. Most travelers never know this, as it is (and should be) transparent to the renter.

Consider this a non-event. Diana has had good experiences and so will you 🙂
