We booked our trip with NH11 months ago before arriving in STJ. Marty spoke so highly of this trip, I was so excited I couldn't wait for the day to come. We woke up early on Thursday morning
(6:00 AM) had our coffee and headed out to Cruz Bay at 6:45 AM. We didn't want to be late and didn't know anything about morning traffic in the middle of the week.We stayed out in Coral Bay. We parked at Courtesy Car rental and made an easy walk down to National Park dock.It was a beautiful morning. Boat arrived right on time 8:00 AM. 11 people were already on board. We filled out some papers, introduced ourselves and we headed out. 15 mintues into the trip, the boat breaks down. The captain made some calls and informs us no other boat is available but there is room for 12 people on the Breakaway. Bigger boat but a little slower getting to BVI. Same trip but slower. We have 16 people on the NH11. I whisper to my HB "we got up early, drove from Coral bay, made these reservations months ago, no way am I not going to the BVI today" We do the waiting game every one is discussing what they will do. Finally, 4 people say no problem we can do this another day. I say to HB Thank you God. We transfer over to Breakaway. They happen to be behind us. There are now 27 people on the Breakaway. But I'm very happy. Don't care. We find seats and I'm separated from my HB but we can see each other. He looks happy. Everything is good.

The ride to Virgin Gorda is beautiful. We clear customs quick. We are on our way to the famous Baths. WE get as close as we can and then have to swim in. Surf is up. Not sure I can do this but I jump in with HB. He is keeping a close eye on me. I tell him this is fun. We get close to shore and a big all wave comes in and knocks everyone every which way. I am covered in sand, every where. I still don't care I'm in Virgin Gorda! I find my HB and we wobble up to Danala (sp) a crew member who will give us a tour of the Baths.
The tour is not easy, alot of tight spaces to crawl thur and alot
of climbing up big rocks. Some people did the army crawl thur an area in the sand not me I took the steps. But very low clearance. I'm short so I didn't have a problem. My HB is tall and he almost hit his head. It was very crowded and hard to keep up with our guide. But I was loving it any way. We were there not more than 40 minutes and it was time to head back to the boat. We had to swim back but this time I used a board because I was going into the waves.Back on the boat everyone was talking about their boo boos.

Lunch at Marina Cay was delicious. We had to call ahead to order because there were so many of us. Food was waiting for us when we got there. Guana Island next and it was delightful. We snorkeled and had alot of fun. Next stop Soggy Dollar and another swim in but no waves. The painkillers at Soggy were very good. Excellent. I loved Jost Van Dyke. The beach and water so pretty.DH took a 5 minute nap and I went shopping. Swam back to boat and on our way back to STJ.

The crew was great,Captain Dave,Danala and Lauren. Plenty to drink,
anything you wanted painkillers, soda, beer etc. Going to BVI we had a continental breakfast (fruit and sweet breads) coming back shrimp cocktail. YUMMY

A very special THANK YOU to MARTY. We had a wonderful time and I will never forget the trip. We met some very lovely people and had great moments. It was worth the money for us.We got to see 4 different areas of the BVI. We loved it and have no complaints.

Sorry for any spelling mistakes. We need spell check on this board.

thanks....glad you had a great time in spite of the boat problem....
we are deciding on limnos....we think that since the others are not into boats like we are they might be more comfy on a big boat that is fast...it goes to the baths and to norman island caves...

is the sail trip of scubadu a woozy ride? after hearing about that cruise ship on the news i am afraid of everything..

Ginger,

Any boat ride to BVI is really nice. Your cousins are going to love it. Do they know how much worrying you have been doing over their trip. This is your trip too and I think it's time to stop worrying.

You leave in a few days and I wish you and Steve a wonderful relaxed trip. Have a painkiller for me. I really got hooked on them,

Grace
