Hi all,

For our "island tour" in a couple of weeks, we can go in an open air taxi (I assume with others?) or in a closed taxi with A/C for just the family (we are a family of 4).

Which is better for end of June? Do you think we would we prefer the A/C due to heat/humidity? We're from California, so not that accustomed to humidity... but I figure we'll be getting in an out during the tour anyway.

Which would you recommend?

Thanks.

Ron will not steer you wrong. Even tho' I would self drive, you can take his advice and be well advised that he is not giving out any misinformation.

I love the guy like a brother.

Ronnie,

I must confess that I've never heard such gross misinformation as that which you encountered on the Duckaneer but then it's not very often that I go on the "tour" things. But it's horribly disappointing to hear such stories. Maybe all tour guide owners should be required to (a) have historical training before they're allowed to have a business license and (b) require all their employees to have the same! Hope you corrected them. Cheers.

On the taxi tour, everyone will be able to enjoy. If he can get an open air, that would be ideal, IMO.

Otherwise, on the self-guided tour, the driver will have to concentrate on the road, and not be able to fully enjoy the tour/views. The last thing you want is to say "Oh, look how beautiful THAT is" and have the driver distracted from keeping left and the hairpin turns.

I hope he'll take you out by the West End and show you 'the other" St Thomas...the one the cruise ship people and the STJ ferry people never see. I'd be more interested in seeing that than the typical T-shirt stands at the sponsored overlooks (ugh!). Get away from Red Hook - go in the other direction.

Good point... Bluwater - we'll ask to be taken to the off the beaten track places too, if we do the taxi tour (still undecided).

Hi, I am a travel agent looking for a driver online that has air-conditioned vans for a customer. I see Alvin is one mentioned. Does he have a website? Any others that have vans and online?

thanks,
Deuce
