My boyfriend and I are spending the summer in St. John and we are trying to decide if it is better to buy a one way ticket, for about $350, and try to get another one way in August, or to buy a round trip for may to august (the cheapest we have found is $699). Does anyone have any advice? We have never been to been to STJ in the summer, so we don't know what tickets usually run. Will a one way in August be expensive? Thanks a lot of any help.

The way airlines price their tickets, 2 one ways are normally more expensive than RT. You can get an idea by searching for the one way in August now but I would suggest the RT. Even if you can get the same price on one way back as you did going down, it looks like the RT will save you $1.00.

I would like to fly out of Portland Maine, but Manchester NH is fine, and cheaper, too. I found $599 RT on orbitz today, so i think thats is what i will go with. Does this sound like a good price?

Hi,

Well the prices you're talking about sound pretty reasonable to me. We paid 1250 apiece in March comning out of Fargo, ND. The year before we paid 598 apiece. Buying one way tickets will also assure you of an of an obligatory strip search. Well, maybe not that but it is a "red flag" for the TSA folks. Have a great trip.

Erin,

The last time my husband and I flew to STX out of MHT (Manchester) we paid $587 round trip (Feb 2005), so your pricing sounds about right.

We are going back next month and found round trip tickets out of Logan for $457 each. Have you looked at flying out of Boston?
