My whole family (parents, 3 siblings and all our families) will be arriving in St. Thomas Wed., June 2nd via cruise ship. We only have the day. Some of us like snorkeling, some like hiking and some like shopping. We will not be doing everything together. Any suggestions on how to make the best use of our day? Is it better to just stay on St. Thomas, or should we get to St. John? Where should we snorkel? Even though we're part of the cruise crowd, we'd like to avoid the most crowded places and see some real treasures. Is it better to rent a car for the day or go with taxi's? Are there any good places to hike? Thanks for your help!

Hiking.... trails in STJ.
Snorkeling.... Coki in STT would be easiest to access and least time consuming.
Shopping.... Charlotte Amalie

With a car you can go all over the place and hit several beaches/places anytime you want.

One day is definitely not enough as you are limited and might end up wishing you were there longer. Take one of the guided safari tours of the island to get a feel of the place then decide what you want to do afterwards.

If you do go to Magens bay, stop at Udder Delight and pick up a 'loaded' milkshake. You can't go wrong.... one of the island's best kept secrets in my opinion.
