to old timers-good evening-coming back after 55years ,to visit & see saint thomas & the other islands. would like to meet with people who remember a marine air group having two squadrons of propeller type fighters, operatingout of bourne field; locally the field was known as-harry s. truman airport. mag-14 was here for amonth, during a period of late summer or early fall. we livedon a hillin a two story "british" type barracks (today,i would say it is part of the university of vi-st & the golf course. ) we tookover the sub base & established Comm. & hq there! we had the reserves getting ready to go from these operations, using the gull-wing F4U corsair aircraft, for carrier & land ops. in korea. later we operated out of rosey roads pr using jets. i was a regular marine corporal,at he time, assigned to the crash crew.our operations covered the use of bourne field & all other facilities. the pilots had a great time taking off & landing on a sloping -4400ft. runway! i'm yakingway too much? would like to talk old -times to those who remember? have tried to get info. ,but with no luck. semper-fi,from an old jarhead airdale.
