Hi,I'm going to be at Maho Bay Campground for the month of August and would like to know about Solar Showers? Is that what you call them? Since Maho Bay only has cold water showers I read somewhere that people were bringing some kind of solar bags that warm the shower water for you??
Can anybody give me info on what these things do and where to buy them??
Thanks,Debbie

A solar shower is a rugged, flexible, dark colored bag that you fill with water. The sun heats it up, due to the dark color. Pull the string and you have warm water, instead of cold. Concordia also has them, but they are 50 gallon barrels painted black and you fill them by pumping water up from the cistern (by hand). No idea where to buy one. The Sports Authority? Maho is great, but I prefer Concordia Eco-Tents. Run by the same people, just alot smaller.

Marty,Thanks for the info. I read somewhere that you can buy them at any camping supply store. I should be able to find someplace around here to get one. They called it a Solar Heated Camp Shower.
I've never been to Concordia or Harmony Studios.
I'm doing the Work-Exchange Program at Maho Bay Camps for the month of August. I have stayed at Maho Bay before and we really enjoyed it alot!
I read on another forum that the showers are closed between 10am and 3pm so you should take your shower at 3pm because the water is at it's warmest.....
That certainly is good advice.

Debbie, I was at Maho for the month of October, never missed having warm H2O, (except to shave my legs and warmed it on my stove). Depending on where your tent is, you may not get enough sunshine to warm it up much. Ask for a tent with a sunny deck if you are able to change but they're getting busier even in Aug. You can find them even at discount store camping departments in season, I suggest leaving it behind on the take/leave shelf if it's only $20. You'll have a great time!

I dont know where you are located at but any sports/outdoors store should have them.

I am in Texas and we have Academy. Or something like Oshmans (www.oshmans.com) should have them or even Sun&Ski...(kinda pricey)
