Just heard O'Conner's Texico in Cruz Bay is closing. Filling up there when returning a rental was by far the easiest place to do so. If my memory serves me correctly there are only two other stations on STJ, the one in Coral Bay[cash only] and one by Pine Peace. Are there any others?

Yeah, nobody from Texaco Caribbean or the VI gov't. showed up. What a surprise, huh? Someone from the STJ public works dept. did show and offered to run the station as long as possible. Check the on-line VI newspapers for the complete article.

To add to what Mango said, it apparently is the choice of Texaco's parent company, Chevron Corp, to close the station down, and is not something O'Connor did, so I apologize for speaking before knowing the full truth in my last post!

Once they file the papers to condemn with the court the property is owned by the agency condemning it. The only thing they will argue over is the amount of money they will be paid. A jury trial will determine the just compenstion due the owner.

Holy crap, I'm just reading this all now. This is insane!!! We were only going to rent a car for a few days in Nov and just chill more at Maho but the lack of gas will change everything!! And to think we can't carry liquids on board the planes or I might have hand carried a few gallons (lol in small print).

Let 'em, they'll get an earful- I'm already p----- at having to send my cosmetics down in advance as well as bug spray and sunscreens AND trying to figure out how to get around the liquids when I go to Cambodia for 3 weeks where god only knows where I'd buy Clinique!!!

Clinique? Don't get me started. If my wife and daughter come back from the store with one more 'Gift Bag' as a result of spending $$$ on 'Clinique Day', I am going to move out (no room left for me). Now they are sold on Bare Essentials, which I suppose is nice in its own way but I have to laugh at applying crushed stone on ones face...isn't that called dirt?
Of course, if you add some water to the dirt and make mud you have a version of sunscreen and bug repellent all in one. Maybe our ancestors had it right all along! 😀

You're a guy all right Chris... I can't use Bare Minerals as I don't do well with the sunscreen in those products but HEY, aren't those Clinique gift bags great!!! They are how I got my daughter hooked on the products!!!
Huh, VI message board, oh gees, I forgot where I was! I hate digressing and now I'm wicked guilty of it! Regardless, you get to STJ, throw on a hat and some sunglasses and no one cares anyway how you look (as long as I'm in a bikini my hubbie is happy, makeup be d-----.)
