Hello!

My partner and I are planning on visiting STT over Thanksgiving for the Paradise Jam Tournament (women's college basketball).

This trip is a splurge for us, so we're really trying to go with the least expensive options for everything.

We are from the DC/MD area, but after researching flights, we will most likely be driving up to Newark (NJ) to fly out of EWR, as the flights are almost $200 cheaper in some cases than flying out of any of the Baltimore/Washington area airports.

I've found a schedule that works for us (flying out Wed 11/23 and back Mon 11/28) for $476.20 per person on expedia.com and, while this is a holiday week and I'm worried about getting tickets early, I'm also concerned that, with 7 months to go- I'll miss out on some good sales or something.

Does anyone have any knowledge of timing of sales for November-ish trips? Should I just book now for piece of mind? Or wait?

Also going with the cost-saving idea, I was thinking of just staying at the BW-Carib Beach. Any input there?

Lastly, since we will definitely be going back and forth to the University of VI and the Marriott for three days while we're there (among other things), is it a no brainer for us to rent a car?

Any comments, suggestions, etc. would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks!
Erin 🙂

I'd go ahead and book it now, as they typically raise the rates at that time of year, so the closer you get, the higher the price. Typically. Better safe than sorry, ya know? BW will be perfect for the UVI proximity. Cheap, too. Get the rental car (Book with Budget on-line for the best price), as you will save loads of dough vs. taxis, and will have the freedom to come and go at your leisure.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate the suggestions! 🙂

Luckily- even though this is a splurge, since the trip is so far off, we will have it paid for before we even step on a plane!

I'm really looking forward to the trip and the tournament... Go Maryland Lady Terps!

Assume since you are considering EWR that you have looked at Philly also (PHL).
Sometimes great rare and random deals pop up from there on USAir, which is less shaky financiallly speaking (for the time being) than they were this past fall and winter.
That being said, anything under $400 is seems to be a good deal from this area, so maybe $75 more for a holiday week aint that bad. Hopefully others who have actually flown at that time will chime in.

I booked our trip on Continentalfrom the Newark airport to STT non-stop for $375.00 round trip. Of course, we are going in May but I waited and was lucky to catch a great fare.
