I was wondering how the flying bug situation is on St. John in July? Has anyone had any problems?
They have never bothered me. Some people (my wife) are more sensitive (taste better) than others. "Skin so Soft", an Avon product works surprisingly well.
As Wes said, some are affected more than others. They come out during the cooler periods and during still air (early morning and dusk). I recommend Deet product as several people on this board have not had success with SSS. We used Deet and had no issues.
No seeums are most successfuly dealt with with Skin So Soft, and personally I don't think Deet products are something you want on your body!
Does it matter which SSS is used, oil or lotion? Here in Northwest Indiana the oil works for mosquito's. Last year while on STT in Nov. we got eatin alive, found "OFF" with a high Deet content, worked great (have I ever mentioned lots of RUM works also?).
I like the RUM idea!
Bring both SSS and Deet.
Drink the rum while you try and decide between carnivorous attacks or chemical contamination.
By the time you make a choice...it won't matter.
