Hi everyone!
I wanted to let everyone know that this restaurant was EXCELLENT! Newly opened about 2 weeks ago and located on route 37 (Hull Bay Rd). This restaurant has seen some major changes and I loved every detail. At first I was disappointed that it was going to be more of a finer dining experience, but I was truly impressed! For some, this will be out of the way for you, but well worth the drive. For those staying in the Peterborg, Mahogany Run, Dorothea, or Mafolie areas, it is not difficult to get to at all! It has a wonderful view of Hull Bay and has a outside dining deck as well as an indoor dining area. The wine selection is unreal (tho I have to tell you, I am NOT a wine drinker)! I feel very fortunate that the North side now has 3 wonderful restaurants!

Hi Sherry,

IS this place where the North Drop used to be?

Is it fine dining or casual? Price range? Wines are domestic as in California or more?

New owners?

Do you have any more details?

I haven't heard about it.

What are the hours?

Thanks
Tippi

You got it! Old North Drop location!
New owners, she did a huge renovation. Lived here for 12 years and been coming for 20 years and has owned restaurants before.
Hours are 5 to 10 pm Monday through Thursday and 5 to 11 pm Fri and Saturday!
World wide wines from everywhere!
Menu is fine dining, but feel free to come as you are! There is also a bar menu which is casual- burgers and fries, etc!!!!!!
Dinner, bar, children's, desert and extensive menus!
Has both vegetarian and vegan entrees.
340-775-5098
I am not advertising, I was simply very happy with my experience!

Could you elaborate a little more on the location, say from Red Hook? Sounds great, we're going to try it when we're down in a few weeks.
Thanks for the review.

From Red Hook:
You will be on Rt 38. Take a right on rt 42, then a very slight left on 40. You will greet a stop sign along rt 40 and make a slight left and continue on 40 all the way to the end of that road, coming to a T. Turn right with will be a combo of rt 40 and rt 35- STAY Straight on that rd!!!! Rt 40 will turn INTO rt 37 (hull bay road). North Side Bistro will be on your right hand side.

Now, if you miss the turn off from 42 to 40, that is ok, follow 42 to the end, take a left (up hill) onto rt 35. (Magens Bay road). At the top of that road, take a right and stay on that road! Again, it will be rt 40 turning into rt 37.
NOTE: What many people don't realize is that at the top of Magen's Bay Rd (rt 35), weather taking a right OR a left, YOU have the right-of-way! But be cautious in case someone is already turning down from the left. There is NO stop sign.
Hope this helps! Print it and have it for your visit! 🙂

Tippi,
You won't be sorry you did! My fiance's Son is here visiting from AK and this will be our "special night out" place of choice! About a month ago, I was taken out to Mafolie Restaurant which was nice, but North Side Bistro put them to shame!

Sherri,

What were your other two favorites? I am staying at the Ritz. How long a drive about would you say from there? Reservations?

Thank you,

Barbie

for a place that's so popular out of the box, i highly recommend a reservation - 340-775-5098.

you'd drive about 40-45 minutes to get there from the east end, depending on your confidence level. i am planning to go soon, but it sure looks like it'll be worth the trip! get an early reservation!

It is well worth the visit and Ms. Connie has outdone herself as always - with a bang!!!
She has totally renovated the inside - The wine celler - is very impressive, screened in outdoor dining - no bugs.
Indoor dining is very intimate.
Bar area is very nicely done as well -
Great restaurant, food is excellent -
Price is reasonable.
Good menu choices.
If you haven't been, you need to go.
Fantastic, well done.
Can't wait until I return.

HI Barbie,
You are not going to like me! 😀 My first two favorites are North Side Bistro and Thirteen, both located over here on the Northside. We are SO lucky to have these wonderful restaurants in this area and worth the drive from the East End!
My Third is tough to say.... Agave' Terrace is over in your neck of the woods at Point Pleasant and I always highly recommend it. Others that are great, gosh too many, Banana Tree Grille (Blue Beard's Castle), Oceana, Craig and Sally's (both in Frenchtown), Havana Blu (Frenchman's Reef), which I have never been to, but always hear great things! We have wonderful restaurants here in STT! (tu)
ps- I am also hearing great things about Hull Bay Hideaway these days! This would be a much more casual experience. My honeymooners at Stone Cottage right now, have been several times and say that the veggie burgers are the BEST! I HAVE to go check them out soon!

Can anyone tell me how far this would be from Neltjeberg. We are staying in a villa there?

Tunisbridal,
Thirteen is very close to Neltjeberg, you will be passing it often. North Side Bistro is not that far either, tho you will need help with a map to get there. I am guessing someone will be taking you to your villa, ask them how to get to NSB and they should be able to get you there!
Are you staying in the house at the bottom? Down closer to the beach, on the point?

Neltjberg to N side Bistro ---- Take a left at the top of the road out from Neltjberg - go to 4 corners and take a left at the Stop sign - Take a left at the St Peter Greathouse (down Barret Hill) -- take a left at the bottom -- Bistro will be on your right in a few minutes.

We are staying at the villa amour. I think it is on top of St. Peters Mountain. Glad to see something close by. Specially having an "adult" beverage and trying to find your way home. We stayed in Estate Peterborg last year.

It is close, but don't get too many adult beverages. There are other people on the road you might injure.

The leading cause of vehicle deaths is trached back to the drinking of adult beverages!

Have a good time, but in moderation.!

I looked up Villa Amour and went to their website - it says you can walk to Neltjeberg Beach and posts some pics that look to make its elevation rather low and near the beach -- so I am assuming it is NOT on top of St Peter Mt. - maybe one of the Villa reps who post here can chime in about that - if it is down the beach access road then the directions I posted are still accurate.
