Pity anyone who's on Virgin Gorda looking for low-key rest and quiet. The founder of Google is getting married on Necker Island and VG will be occupied by the rich and famous:

Reminds me of the poor souls who were seeking a quiet vacation on Marthas Vineyard the same time as the Clintons.

"Nightmare", "pity" and "poor souls" seems like hyperbole. The lavish event is a fiscal boon for locals; the wedding party booked all of the hotel rooms on Virgin Gorda. Furthermore, the festivities will be on a private island so I don't think the big todo will bother those enjoying rented villas on Virgin Gorda.

OH PLEASE, Lex! Obviously this event has been in the works for a long time and I doubt very much that any guest who reserved at any place on Virgin Gorda has been summarily displaced, nor that any visitor to Virgin Gorda will in any major way be inconvenienced by this celebrity event which is taking place on the private Necker Island.

With all due respect, I have no idea who these people are who are getting married and I honestly don't give a damn. When you personally get the scoop on visitors who were displaced and diverted because of this celebrity wedding, please post accordingly. Cheers!

Actually there are folks who were "displaced" and sent to Caneel - all the better for Caneel I guess - unless it was your life long dream to honeymoon at LDB. Some 60 containers of stuff, 600 people - I just wish I could be at immigration/customs at SpanishTown and North Sound to watch the inspectors! lol Maybe the Secret Service will jump right in and give a hand with the luggage! Seems lots of action at the airport and more to come tomorrow. Other than the plastic palm trees (with fronds pointed to the sky) and the blight of air conditioned white tents, renting of some of the ferrys, and other minor inconveniences, there is probably a bit of disruption/excitement and maybe a bit of a "boon" to the BVI. 600 of your closest friends - at Necker - rather a tight fit if you ask me!
