Will be in St. Thomas next week and would like suggestions on place to go for a really nice setting, something romantic for dinner.
Recommend Craig and Sally's in Frenchtown, great food and service! Slow service is the norm in the islands, but they are very efficient, yet you don't feel rushed.
Heres a couple more: Bananna Tree Grill, Room with a View, Agave Terrace, Virgilios, Fagiolis... probally in that order to for romantic and great view, but overall they are all great.
I too have been looking for places to eat in St. Thomas. I have found a lot of useful information on the web, especially from message boards like this, as well as other epinions. Some good sites I have visited are www.usvitourism.vi and www.tripadvisor.com.
Navigating through these sites I have found some good recommendations, can't say if they are right though (though this is true of all information received anonymously).
Some of the sites, Fodors.com, imparticularly lists restaurants along with visitor's/patron's opinions. They also cover price, view, etc...
From what I see Herve get's top billing as a romantic place to eat. Yet, I have heard it has irregular hours depending on the time of year one is there. Not sure if this is true.
From what I can tell anywhere on these islands is a lot better than anywhere in these states.
I have also been looking up restaurants in st. thomas. Planning on going to Banana Tree Grill, Morgan's Mango and Agave Terrace. Any info on Herve's, Seagrape, Bryan's in hull bay, Caribbean Saloon or La Tapa. Also has anyone went to caribbean night at Bolongo Bay.
Again Herve Restaurant is the best in town. It has the best food and the best views because it is located on the top of government hill. AND it is romantic.
