We are going to Emerald Beach Resort June 3-8. Anybody stayed there? I might still have time to change if it is not good. Also, should we rent a car for more than a couple of days?

Hello Docnan,

There are several trip reports about Emerald Beach on this board. Use the Search feature in the Forum Tools (at the top of the board) and search for Emerald Beach.

Its not a fancy resort, good place for the money though as the rooms are all beach front on a nice beach.

If you want to explore the island, beach hop, eat at different restaurants - then a rental car for a few days or the whole time is a good idea. If you don't have a lot of going out plans then using taxis will do; they are abundant. You can get an idea of taxi rates by clicking on St. Thomas at the top of this page (in the blue bar) and then Taxi Rates from the drop down.

We're also going to be stayin at Best Western Emerald Beach resort from June 1 to June 11. I've done a lot of research and I believe it's the best option for us. It's supposed to have a feel of a larger resort, but without the prices (the only downside is the intermittent noise from jets taking off during 3 hours in the afternoon). But since we're playing to be exploring STT and other islands, we don't plan to stay at the resort the entire time, and for the times we do stay there, I don't think that we'll be bothered enough by it. We are renting a car too for easy transportation around STT and to STJ.

My husband and I stayed there from Apr 21-25, and it is a great value! The beach is absolutely perfect and ALL rooms are beachfront! We didn't mind the few planes that take off in the afternooon - - they were interesting to look at. The rooms were clean and typical BW style. Nothing too fancy. But we didn't need the a** polishing that some people must have. You will love having the freedom to travel around to the other islands and eat at the great local restaurants! Plus your breakfast is free, too! THe restuarant is OK (if you order breakfast off the menu is is loaded with butter 🙁 We saved on hotel and spent our money on a private charter to St. John and BVI! Well worth $500! Awesome! And on your own time schedule.

We are headed back again Thursday to stay at the Wyndham Sugar Bay. Since we have kids with us, we like the all-inclusive program there so we don't have to haul everyone around.

But I would definitely stay at the BW Emerald Beach again. Enjoy!!

We spent 2 weeks at Emerald Beach in Feb. Our 3rd. yr.there. Best value for the money. ALL rooms have patio's looking out on the beach. Nice Beach. Not too many people. Try & get building 2. It is centraly located to beach bar, restaurant, pool and office. Ask Ralston to make you one of his Bushwackers. Ummmm.

Peeps,
You will be at Emerald Beach while we will. We are a "senior citizen" couple. Maybe we can have a drink. Thanks for your post and for all of the others who have replied!
