Will be staying at the Marriott for New Years Eve.

Any celebration parties for New Years Eve?? Anything on maybe a beach??...fireworks?? Is there a "gala" or anything. What about bars that celebrate??

Also... Is there anything on New Years day traditionally??

Thanks!

There was an ad in the paper for Yacht Haven Grande. They are having special menus at their three restaurants, fireworks. You would be able to see the fireworks from the harbor side of the Reef.

The Ritz usually has fireworks.

BTW, it is called Old Year's Night here, which really makes sense if you think about it! 😉 New Year's Day is usually given over to recovering from Old Year's.

Thanks so much for your reply, and for the wealth of information!

For "Old Years Eve" 🙂 I would really like to be someplace where I can have my toes in the sand, a glass of champane.... now, if I could add some music to that "pipe-dream" ~which my boyfriend is making a realitiy 🙂 and wow, fireworks too...this is getting even more amazing!!

We have been to St. Thomas 4 other times, but only for a day while in port on a cruise. We love Saphire Beach...so initally I just wanted to come back to be at Saphire Beach for New Years....but I'm learning there is so much happening and different traditions for New Years / Old Years Eve. Very very exciting.

I realize the hangovers are happening on New Years day...but I thought I read someplace that there is a celebration on the 1st....maybe in St. John??? If you know anything regarding this it would be appreciated.

Thanks greatly for your time.

Tricia

Your idea of beach, champagne, fireworks may be available at Marriott. They have a couple beach front restaurants, and since most restaurants on the island do something for New Year's Eve, they likely are planning something. Special menu is the norm, some have music and party favors. You can check with Marriott. After dinner you could watch the Yacht Haven Grande fireworks from the harborside of the resort property.

The Yacht Haven Party info is: All Night Disco Funk Party! December 31, 2007 from 9pm to 3am. Inner Visions Band from 9:30pm to 11:30pm. DJ Peter C 10pm. Superfly Disco Band Midnight to 2am. Disco Strobe Ball Drop 11:45pm. Fireworks Show at Midnight. Bars open. Restaurant Specials. Admission: $25 for adults, includes a glass of champagne, entertainment and party favors. Children $15 (must be accompanied by an adult). There is more information on their website under events: http://www.yachthavengrande.com/.

Like the restaurants most bars do something. Haven't heard any specifics *-).

Over on Jost (island in the BVI) there is a big beach party: http://www.foxysbar.com/oldyears.html
