Any suggestions as to where to go on St. Thomas for New Year's Eve? We're 2 single females in our 50s. We like music and dancing. Years ago we met while working at Frenchman's Reef, at the Top of the Reef...but I'm sure that is something else by now.....

I think it depends where you'll be staying when you're here.
There'll be lots of activities at hotels, bars and restaurants.
You can check the Daily News and the Island Trader (free weekly periodical) as well as ask around. If staying at a hotel, maybe they'll have something happening. Good idea to make advance reservations for dinner if planning on dining out as restaurants tend to be booked up for NYE.
Banana Tree Grille is very nice with a town and harbor view and Oceana is pretty special with its old world charm on the water behind Frenchtown. Lots of options here Ladies so take your pick.
Just make resvervations NOW if dining out on NYE.

It just depends on what floats your boat. Sometimes Ritz Carlton has Fireworks.
Latitude 18 always has music, there'll be planty of people celebrating in Red Hook - east end location.

Drive Safely. Lots of drunken idiots out on the road. Don't be one of them and STAY LEFT!

Enjoy whatever you decide to do.

Thank you so much! We'll be staying at Bluebeard's and taking a taxi where ever we go. My friend wanted to go to Foxy's on Jost Van Dyke for New Year's Eve....but between the cost and all the hassles with the ferry, and not having a place to stay, etc....we've decided to stay on St. T.

If staying at Bluebeards, you can check out the activities in French town, after dinner, if you don't want to go out to the east end.
Banana Trees Grille is located there on property at Bluebeards, along with Room with a View.

Ask for viewside tables when you make your reservation. (I'd make it asap as if you wait until a week before you may not get one.)

Betsy's Bar is in Frenctown and sure to have music if you opt for dining at Oceana, (also ask for oceanside table) plus there are other bars, and restaurants all within walking distance of each other. There's Tickles At Crown Bay Marina, a short cab ride from Frenctown and they usually have music. You can call around once you arrive to check who's playing, type of music, etc.

Jost is overrated, in my opinion, on NYE and dealing with large groups of drunken white people isn't high on my list of things to do on NYE.
Still it has its appeal since you can wander aimlessly up and down the beach from bar to bar.

I'm sure there may be other places but that's all I can think of.
Maybe someone else will chime in with ideas.

I don't know what the STT/STJ ferry schedule from Red Hook will be
or what activities there will be in Cruz Bay but also lots of bars and restaurants there. All within walking distance of each other, right in town, near the ferry dock.

Just make sure you know when the last boat back to STT will be. Normally they run every hour on the hour, back and forth but stop at 11PM or midnight. They may have a later one since it's NYE.

Whatever you do, have fun and be safe.
