Hello everyone, I have been reading post on this forum for about a week now and I decided to sign up and ask for some help since everyone seem to know what they were talking about. I live in Mississippi and the longest trip I have been on is to Panama City Beach Florida. My husband and I have decided to take a "real" vacation. We want to go to St. Thomas June 26th-July 1st, so for a southern (not well traveled) couple that wants to relax and see beautiful clear water for the first time where should we stay? Our budget, flight and hotel, is $2000. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

We are staying there the same week...we are staying in Mahogany Run...we have stayed there b-4, not sure if any condos are still available for rent but we went through Remax Realty and we are staing in the same unit as last time for $150 a nite for 6 people--great deal...there are pools there and nice place...you must drive to the beach but it is up on a hill and the views are awesome. Email me if you have trouble finding information cuz I don't check here that often. Good luck!

Hello,

Definately start looking for tickets, good deals. There are a couple deals going on right now on USAir and American Airlines for airfare to the VI. I saw the AA ones on Expedia this morning but you could check AA web site as well. There are a few threads on this board with links to different fare sales. You might also see if there are any Airfare/Hotel packages, though the websites like Expedia etc.

Once you find a few options, share them and folks can give opinions & feedback. Good Luck.

Have you decided which island you want to visit?

Now is definately the time to start booking airfare/hotels to STT. Especially airfare...you never want to wait for the last minute. It gets more expensive the closer you get.

Not sure how long you're staying, but the Best Western Emerald Beach is affordable and offers some great amenities like a beautiful calm beach, beach bar, restaurant, rooms on the beach, dive instructors, etc. http://emeraldbeach.com/

Some of the best advice I received was no matter where you stay in STT, take one day at least and ferry over to St John to spend a day. STT is great for shopping and beaches, but St John is so peaceful and calming with beaches that have hardly anyone visiting...makes you feel in a way like you're on your own island.

Have fun!

Here's a great place we have found. Actually, we will be there in just two weeks! The people who own it are very helpful and live nearby so they can help if there are any problems, you need advice, etc. The condo is a studio, with lovely views and lots of things (restaurants, bars, activities, car rental, etc.) right there in the area, including a nice beach with crystal clear water, and a swimming pool. And if you go in the low season, the price is right at $100 per night. It's air conditioned, lots of nice amenities, just perfect for two... At least, we certainly think so! A grocery store is just a very short way down the road in Red Hook. The website is for their boat rental business, so when you go to the site, click the tab for "Condo rentals". Have a great time!
