Greeting everyone.
I just found this forum and it is fantastic, all sorts of great posts.
We have visited STT 3 times, STJ twice and STX once during 3 different trips, however the last time was 3 years ago and we are longing to return. We hopiing to return in 6-8 months with plans on relocating in 12-18 months hopefully sooner :).

A little about us we live in Chicago (Go Cubs), I manage banquets for hotels and she bartends and serves. We are in our early forties and like to camp, hit the beaches, snorkel, hit the bars and explore in general.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself and say Hi, I look forward to our future chats!

Peace.

Thank you in advance.

Welcome dj,

Go Cub's! My husband is a Chicago native but relocated to the Galena, Il area years ago to start our construction company. We are renovating our villa in STT and will be traveling back once again on Tuesday for more work. Maybe we'll meet some day on island.

The Galena area is beautiful. The terrain is similar to STT.Years ago I rented an old schoolhouse in Eagle Ridge that had been renovated and really enjoyed the entire area. Good luck with your renovation, I hope it wont be all work and no play while you're there:). Have fun.

Nice to hear from you.

Lazyboy,

Thanks for the comments on Galena, it really is a spectacular place. Our weekend home is in Eagle Ridge, we moved across the Mississippi into Iowa for the schools. It's funny, where does someone who lives in a resort community vacation, the USVI's of course!

We only spent 2 nights on STX I guess it still counts though, a friend had just moved there so we squeezed in 2 nights before heading to STT. We have stayed at the Marriott and Bolongo on STT and La Sirena and Sea Glass villas on STJ. Sea Glass was amazing, if anyone needs a review of any of these places I 'd be happy to reply.

Getting into this forum is like walking into the water at Maho, and just laying down,- floating the day away. It's nice talking to people who speak the language of both serenity, & catatonic states. It's just a spectacular place, as I'm sure you already know.
Jump in! The water's fine!

😎 Hi! Just found this site, and thought it looked kinda fun (and perhaps helpful) So, I joined 😀 We love STJ and can't seem to get enough. We usually head down the end of May but can't make it until July this year. Can't believe we have to wait another 2 1/2 months. Hope to try and day trip it to The Baths and/or Water Island this year. Can anyone offer any helpful suggestions? Looking forward to your help.

Are you looking for a full day trip to Baths or general excursion?
If full day, you can take the ferry to BVI take a cab and make the day of it by yourself. If you are just wanting to see them for a little while, New Horizons offers a trip from STJ to Baths and then Jost van Dyke with 20-30 of your closest friends..

Hi guys...been reading this great site for some time now and just joined. My girlfriend and I stayed last year on STJ in a villa that a friend gave us, and we'll be back again June 1-9 this year....CAN NOT WAIT! It will probably be our last time visiting simply because we otherwise couldn't afford a villa if it wasn't given to us and since we've used it twice...we don't want to seem greedy by asking for it again, but we have fallen in love with STJ! If anyone is interested in getting together on STJ during June 1-9, let me know. We have a fun filled week planned, my mother and aunt will be with us for the first 3 days and then it will just be us, so some interaction with others would be nice. So...you can seriously pack meat and alcohol into your bags and travel into the islands with it, huh? I think I might actually do that, since meat was so expensive last year! Well, hope to hear from some of you all! We shopped at the Dolphin Market last year but I think this year we will try the Starfish, is it nicer?
STJ bound!

Look for a tour of the BVI that will take you to Norman Island to snorkel the Indians and the Caves. Norman Island is where "Treasure Island" was set. Also, Sandy Spit is a "Pleasure Island," reachable only by watercraft. The snorkeling is supposed to be spectacular!

Regards, Heather

Paradise-
I've used Cpt. Dan at www.motoryachtcinnamonbay.com for the past 2 years, obviously, I'm a fan. Did a full day trip to Jost, with a snorkel stop at Waterlemon, this past April, and hope to see them again when we return this fall.Just wonderful people. Like a number of others on this forum, I packed a soft cooler for our recently past trip, and it was great. You just check it on the plane like another piece of luggage, then you can use it to carry back any gifts/souvenirs you may buy while on island. We brought down steaks, burgers, dogs, chicken, and porkroll. Sounds like alot, but we were a party of four. Everything stayed frozen without any help of ice. We did eat out a few times, but it's just so relaxing grilling up some grub, with all of our favorite fixins', and sides (macaroni salad, baked beans, etc...). Not alot of places serve them, and it's great fun relaxing on the patio after a delicious 'home-cooked meal', with a big fat adult beverage listening to the sounds , smelling the air, enjoying the views, limin' in the breeze, and wondering where your evening adventures might take you. We also had our villa provisioned by www.katilady.com , and had a case of beer, 12 pack of soda, juices, wine, champagne, eggs, lunchmeats, chips, bacon, cookies, cereal, and lots more, for a terrific price. We only really had to buy ice, more beer, rum, and buns for the burgers & dogs. That might not be what you want to do, but it was a great comfort walking into a beautiful home, knowing 99% of our meals were taken care of. I'm sure you'll get more advice from this thread, but it's a 'must-do', if you like to take full advantage of your villa. Cost effective, and frees up your food shopping time,so you can enjoy your homemade sandwiches on the beach!
I highly recommend it.
Smiles-
MJ
