My husband and I are planning our 3rd trip to St. John in June 2008. We would like a mostly laid back quiet trip there, but it would be nice to see a couple of new things that we haven't done before. We have done the typically beach-touring, renting a jeep and driving all over the island, Annaberg Ruins, day trips to JVD and STT, shopping at Mongoose, all of the standard restaurants (there are always new ones to try). My guy is not into hiking in the National Park, so that is out. Are the petroglyphs worth the trip? What other suggestions do the locals have that we should definitely try for something new?
The last time we were there was October 2005...anything new since then that is recommended we would appreciate. Thanks!
If you love to snorkel, a trip on the Serena Sea (Captain Nina) to the mangroves is amazing. You should be able to snorkel in about 3' of water to get the most out of the trip. Serena Sea goes out of Coral Bay for a half day trip that is very relaxing. The mangroves are one of several snorkeling stops. The boat is owned by the owner of t-shirt shop across the street from Skinny Legs.
Another activity would be to check out scuba diving with Colette Diede, owner of 6-Paq Scuba. She does a fantastic intro course in Haulover South. Colette will also rent her/her boat for the day for about the same price as Nauti-Nymph. We've gone around STJ a couple of times with her to remote snorkeling spots and this past summer we went over to BVI with her. We prefer going with her and renting the boat privately to snorkel.
Hubby & I love all the neat things in the water and spend most of our time snorkeling. Whatever you decide, have an awesome trip!
