On our last trip to St Thomas, we visited Neltjeberg Bay which is accessed by foot trail from Dorothea Bay. Part of the adventure was the hike, and the payoff was a really beautiful seclude beach. While exploring I found the ruins of an old settlement, and some 1933 headstones of young family members who I imagine died of tropical diseases of the era. It was a really magical spot that we hope to return to. My only concern was that four years ago, the foot trail led right through the property of a then unfinished mansion being built. Can anyone tell me if the owner of that home allows visitors passage to the beach? Is there an alternate trail?

You can drive down from the road above. You will need a 4 wheel drive vehicle though.

OR, you can hike right around that house. I've done it several times. And you can drive from above, although if you don't know your way around you might not spot where to turn down. And 4WD is a must.
