I will be in St. Thomas 5/30 - 6/06.
I am looking to rent a car that I can take to St. John without a fine. (I understand some companies fine you if you take their car to St. John.....true/not true?)
I would like to use a local dive company. I have a 15 year old daughter who will be diving with me. Although she is certified she has only had a few open water dives and is still a little nervous. A knowledgeable dive master that would be there to watch out for her would make her as well as myself more at ease.
Lastly, I would like to charter a boat and captain to go to some of the neighboring site seeing places.

Any recommendations are appreciated.

Hertz does not allow their rental vehicles to be transported on the car barge between STT and STJ. Most others do but check on that before you commit.

For diving I recommend Red Hook Dive Center at www.redhookdivecenter.com, local tel # 340-777-3483.

Boat and captain, go to "St Thomas" top of this page and scroll down to "daysails." Lots of options there. I'm a personal fan of Independence, Jester, Winifred, Morningstar and Ike Witt. Cheers!

We have always used Dependable Car Rental and taken the cars to St John without any issues. As for diving, I would recommend Aqua Action at Secret Harbor. Their dive masters and instructors are very attentive as well as friendly and the sites they go to are great.

IMO, the best dive in the USVI/BVI is the wreck of the Rhone off of Salt Island in the BVI. It is a fairly serious dive as it goes from 30 feet to 90 feet deep, and must be dove in two dives. One for whats left of the front from 30 to 60 feet, and a second dive for the 60 to 90 feet deep, very well preserved aft of the wreck.

Heh, right after I received (for my 12th birthday) my certification in 1981, my father, my un-certified 9 year old brother and I dove it for the first time for all three of us. It is a thrilling dive.
