I'm looking for a hotel for one night on STT. I'm just not that familiar with this aspect of STT and could use some help.

I've found a recent suggestion on here by someone who stayed at Hotel 1829 but their website says not for kids under 12. It will be two adults and an 8 year old.

Any suggestions? The only (and most important) requirement is that it be CLEAN.

Thanks.

In the past we have always spent the first night in St. Thomas before going to the villa in St. John, stayed at Best Western Carib once it was OK but a cab ride to and from town and a little rundown but the price was right. Since then we have stayed three times at Holiday Inn in Charlotte Amalie, price was a bit more but much more convenient to go out exploring in CA and eating and close to CA to Cruz Bay passenger ferry in am. Rate was a little more this year (190.00 plus)

Try Bunker Hill. Not much to scream about, but clean and fine for 1-2 nights. Close to the STJ ferry as well.

You can also look into the Crystal Palace. Not sure if they have restrictions on children.

If they can accomodate you, try the Mafolie Hotel. Wonderful view of the harbor! Modest, but clean rooms. Nice (quaint) pool area with pool bar and deck chairs. Highly rated full-service restaurant (independently operated Mafolie Restaurant) on premise. Family owned hotel. Nice people - a really nice experience for only one night. Depending on when you are going, they don't like single night bookings and may charge a slight premium. Try www.mafolie.com to view the hotel. Good luck!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I really like some of the ideas and am not worried now about finding something nice/clean/comfortable.

I lived at Crystal Palace for a couple of months and I think you would enjoy a stay there. I'm sure Ronnie was more than ecstatic to get rid of me and my air conditioning addiction even though it cost him a turtle who is getting really big by the way. Anyway, it's an easy walk to anywhere downtown and to the ferry in CA. There's a fabulous view from the Veranda too. Some rooms have a private bath and others share. The number is 3407772277.
