Arrange a weeks lodging in a hotel or B&B. As soon as you get here, start looking for a permanent apartment. It will be difficult to find anything to rent from off-island. And besides, you'll want to see the place and the neighborhood before you committ.

Good luck.

Directing a Tennessee non-profit hunger relief organization, I haven't taken a vacation in too many years. Needing a week away on the beach that is affordable. Simple accomodations fine. Anyone know of something that might work? Thanks.

On St. Thomas, I recommend the Mafolie Hotel,

http://mafolie.com

Hotel sets on Mofolie Hill and overlooks Charlotte Amalie and the cruise ship docks. They have a modest, and free, continental breakfast and free daily shuttle downtown and to Megans Bay. There is an independently owned restaurants (Mafolie Restaurant) attached with great meals and same fabulous view. Easy taxi arrangements wherever you need to go and ample parking if you rent a car. Simply, clean rooms and great family ownership.

Check it out - we stay at least a couple of nights on each of our yearly visits.

Good Luck - Have Fun!
