I am part of a group trying to develop housing solutions for St.Thomas, St.John and St. Croix. I need to talk to people who are residents of the island or are very very familiar with the native culture. Any information is good. Friend of a friend etc.
VInow.com is a good source of information about the USVI right now. That includes what businesses function, transportation issues, food and water supplies, building projects--anything that is happening after the hurricanes. Perhaps they can help you with your question.

Hello FemaGuy,
Thank you for being part of the recovery efforts, particularly with something as important as housing. Many homes are badly damaged. Some lost the roof, parts of it or the whole thing; others lost windows and doors - and subsequently had a lot of wind and water damage inside; and in some cases the walls tore away or crumbled.
If you are looking for a casual conversation about housing and island culture you might want to start a thread on our other message board which is geared to residents and those that want to live here. Maybe you can ask your questions and gather information from people that live here that way. The link is: http://www.vimovingcenter.com/talk/
If you are looking for on island people with knowledge in the field of construction and home building, plus an awareness of culture, you might try reaching out to some of the on island architectural firms.
Hope that helps. If you have more specific guidelines related to who or what you are looking for - let us know.
Thank you for using VInow.com.
