Hi, yes it's I again, with yet another question about St.John car rental. I'am in the process of sending in money for our trip insurance for our next June's visit. Upon looking at the whole web site of the travel protection I was reading all the claims that 1 can down load and send in if a loss occures. There is 1 form titled collision damage for rental cars. Im a bit confused here. Does this mean I dont have to pay the daily accident charge they access on you when you rent and will this cover any accident if I dont? It's really confusing will the car rental take this as insurance if I dont purchase there's if we get into a fender bender? I have no clue what this means and says exactly. If someone knows please enlighten me, im not getting it. Thanks, Leslie
wow Leslie, I should have read the fine print on my trip insurance policy. I also had extra collision thru AmEx as well as trip insurance, so I may have been over-insured. (But actually, I think I only had trip insurance on the flights, not the accommadations, so maybe not.) Read your policy thoroughly, and remember that if you reserved your car thru your credit card, it may be insured thru that. Seems as if everyone advises not to take the extra insurance at the car rental desk.
My auto insurance company here in the states covers rented cars- including the VI's. They will fax a copy of my policy to me or the rental company down there. I will admit that I didn't look at any small print- that was good enough for me.
Also, if you look at the STJ rental cars ( all cars for that matter), they can all be pretty beat up. Which ding is mine?
Last time we rented from st. john car rental we got a scratched one and they didnt even come out to check it before we left for the dock. That was cool.
