Any recommendations? I found a few maps online, but since we'll be driving around, I think we need a more detailed map.
Thank you,
Julie 🙂
If you're flying into St. Thomas, or going to St. John, when you get into the airport there will be books you can grab that have excellent maps in them. They're in a stand right near where you will pick up your baggage.
I bought a fleximap the name brand on it says "Insight Map" I think that I ordered it on this websight.

I'd go with Connie and just grab all of the free books at the airport....plus, your rental agency will provide one...besides, we only have so many roads and we're a really small buncha islands....if ya get lost.....KEEP GOING! You'll end up where ya started soon enough! haha!
LOL - all good points!!! I am just a bit worried about my hubby driving on the wrong side of the road, especially after a few coctails, which is inevitable!!! 😀 😮
But think of it this way...at HOME, after a few cocktails, he probably drives on the wrong side of the street! He'll be right at home here since that's where we always drive! haha!
True that, true that 🙂 Thank you so much everyone for sharing! You are awesome!
Your car rental place or villa management will probably give you a map. They did for us last year!
Remember it is an island.
If the rent-a-car gets wet one of two things happen
1) You made a wrong turn
2) You had too much to drink
Driving on the left is not hard until you have to make a Right Hand Turn
Keep saying - My left shoulder on the left shoulder
Kiska....if your husband is driving, please don't let him drive drunk....anywhere. I've had first hand experience with that.
Take a cab, or you drive or sometimes there are really nice people who will drive you home. Leave your car.
I understand when you're on vacation and happy and relaxed that drinking is sometimes part of it. Just do the right thing. Hope you remember that.
Have fun too!
I wish I knew how to download pictures to post on this website, maybe someone can give me a tutorial in the future. I got a kick out of our first car that we ever rented on the islands. On the passenger side it had a sticker that read "stay left and honk frequently". I still have the photo and laugh when I see it.
I suppose that us more seasoned members should start a thread about all of the things that may have seemed odd at first, but made perfect sense after spending enough time on the island. When someone flickers their headlights at you, they are giving you the right-of -way, you honk back at them as a token of your appreciation. Don't we love an island where a "honk" means thank you.
Actually I think that I will start that thread now.
Molly
Hi Connie, thank you for the advice - yeah, we'll be careful - we don't want to die!!!
Molly - I saw your thread about etiquette and it is soo important!!! I will definitely share all of the tips and tricks we learn after we come back!
-Julie 🙂
Hello.
The one at the airport is good, but if you are also going to STJ, I'd recommend the National Park Service maptoo...I think you'll find that to be really helpful. We kept both in our car.
Hope you have a great trip!!
We always keep the, St. Thomas This Week, in the car. The map is detailed enough to get you around STT.
Thank you all very much!
You can find several USVI Maps and an Atlas for the USVI at VItraders.com. Also travel guides and souvenirs for the USVI. 😉
