I'm staying at Concordia this summer and am wondering how far I'll have to travel to get grocery and other supplies?

If you check through all these messages, you'll get your answer. Just keep plowing through them. There are a couple not to far but you will need to drive. We're making plans for concordia in November and I'd love to read your followup once you get back. I really want to know if they sell ready made coffee at the tiny store where you register for the tents. We checked this place, and the solid buildings (forgot their name) on our last trip to the Maho eco tents and I seem to remember this but have gotten responses both ways. Just gotta have that one cup in the am and would prefer not to have to make it. Enjoy!

Not far. The Calabash Boom market is just a few miles away from Concordia and Love City Mini Mart is a lttle farther in Coral Bay. You may want to shop in Cruz Bay when you first arrive, then use the small markets as needs arise.

what a fantastic place to stay. we just stayed there. I would suggest not renting a car. they cost $80 a day. the bus from Crusie bay to concordia is $1.00 each. yes, that is no mistake. we would see the bus leaving right on schedule. we had a jeep from conrad's and it was great. we stayed on the paved roads and never needed 4 wheel drive. most roads in the states max out at 7% and 10% requires a special permit. roads on st. john can be up to 35% grade. the really steep ones are concrete. The road at concordia extends down to nanny point. here is a 1.8 care peninuslia that is listed for sale at $3.9 million. it is beautiful. the road is wide enough for a car but there are two turn around points. it is only 1/3 mile from the top of the hill to the turn around at the bottom. there is a trail from concordia to salt pond bay. our friends walked down it and then out to the end of the point. my wife and I were not that ambitious.

the people at concordia are extra friendly. a neighbor lost their key and had to call out security at 11pm to open their villa. there is a $35 deposit on the keys. we never lost our key and quite frankly, locking the door seems unnecessary.

they have filtered cistern water which is good to drink.

Great, you're just the person to ask!!! We have already been to St J several times but November will be our first stay at Concordia. We stayed previously at Maho Bay. Did you think the pillows were okay (they were little bricks at Maho Bay)? Do you recall seeing an electrical outlet anywhere so I could maybe plug my hairdryer in once?? Did they sell ready made coffee in that tiny store on the property? And you did find a trail from the campground to the the Bay? Someone else said there wasn't one but my husband recalls one when we checked it out about 5 years ago. Can you spread out a blanket at the Bay or was it all rocks and how was the snorkling at that spot? Any other opinions about Concordia would be appreciated- again, we know the island (and thought Conrads was a great family to rent a car through) but are interested in recent opinions of concordia. Thanks
