"From Saturday through Monday, admission is free at facilities with a charge at Christiansted National Historic Site on St. Croix and V.I. National Park on St. John to celebrate Veterans Day.

“National parks preserve places that commemorate our country’s collective heritage – our ideals, our majestic lands, our sacred sites, our patriotic icons – which our military has defended through the years,” National Park Service Director Jonathan B. Jarvis said in a press release. “We are grateful for the service and sacrifice of military members, past and present, and honored to tell their story at many of our national parks.”

All national park and other federal facilities waive fees for various holidays throughout the year to encourage visitation.

On St. Croix the historic Fort Christiansvaern has an admission charge that also includes entrance to the Steeple Building. Christiansted National Historic site is home to several historic buildings in the heart of the town.

On St. John the park charges an admission fee to Trunk Bay, the most visited beach on the island, according to the park, and home to an underwater trail where swimmers are able to snorkel over a reef and read plaques identifying coral and fish below.

Mike Anderson, who is acting superintendent at the park on St. John, encouraged Trunk Bay Beach visitors to ride safari taxis or carpool in order to avoid overcrowding in the Trunk Bay parking lot.

The Veterans Day weekend fee free days are the final ones of the year, Jarvis said."

Note: There is an admission fee to Annaberg but normally, if you pay to get into Annaberg, you can go visit Trunk on same day without paying to get in there and vice versa.

Take advantage of these free days from Sat. Nov. 10 thru Monday Nov. 12th for family outings and enjoy our National Parks!
