How easy is it to do a self guided hike in the National Park on St. John? Looking forward to hiking and still have time for a beautiful beach. Any suggestions on which trail to take? Thanks for your help. Sonia

Sonia: Did you check the St John section on the navigation bar above? Click the National Park... There is an excellent map available at the National Park Headquarters in Cruz Bay. Happy hiking! Also, the Reef Bay guided tour is excellent- the rangers will show you all the flora and fauna along the way, you end up at an old sugar plantation on a beautiful beach *and* you get a boat ride back to Cruz Bay! Great fun!

Hello, Self hiking is easy... most of the trails are. A few of them have guided options like Reef Bay.. and there are some companies that offer guided tours of the trails. However if you read about the trails (you can find them under National Park on this site, St. JOhn Guide) and then go to the VIsitors Center on St. John in Cruz Bay when you come in and pick up the map youll be all set. Hike away... Cinnamon Bay trail, Caneel Bay trail, Reef Bay, Drunk Bay... LOL whatever youd like.

If you are on a cruise so your time is set... you might want to hike to Solamon Bay and Honeymoon.. that trail starts right behind the visitors center and is not very long you end up on a great beach and can continue hiking a bit to another great beach. If you are really into hiking.. then continue the trail to Caneel Bay and then take a taxi back from Caneel Bay rather then hiking back. Keep an eye on time. You will have a day of hiking and a day with three beaches :-). Not sure youll have time for anything else if you planned on it.
