Budget = 457.46 for the week, 2 door jeep wrangler
Dependable = 398.74 for the week, 2 door jeep wrangler
Discount - 339.00 for the week, 2 door jeep wrangler
There's 12 of us, so we have to rent 3 of them. I've done my homework. I would never rent from Budget again, but I wanted to get their price. I had reservations at Dependable and then just hapened to call Discount. Very, very nice guy named Alex took our reservation. Right before that I emailed Dependable to see if they would match Discounts prices. They said no, they hadn't raised their prices in 8 years and they understood if I wanted to cancel. So, I will do that later.
I can't say enough about Alex from Discount. He was very very nice. He told me that when we land to call immediately and they will pick up the 3 drivers while the rest of the crew will wait for the luggage. The 3 drivers will fill out the necessary forms and then come back and get the other 9 in our party. Seems to work out well. They're basically at the end of the runway, so it seems like it's a good deal.
Dependable also charges 5.00 a day for an extra driver. Discount doesn't charge as long as drivers are married. Works for us for a 3 cars.

Connie - your rental Jeep deal does sound very good and I hope it works out well for your group but the utimate proof is in the pudding and I hope all goes well for you and that you'll post a trip report upon your return home.
I see that on a previous visit here you had problems with Budget. Others have had no problems with them. People generally gripe about negatives than postiitves but yours with them was certainly cause for complaint. There are countless posts on various travel forums about negatives but statistically fewer about positives. That's human nature,

Well STT...I already have had a postive reaction to Discounts service as I've already said, so that gives me a good feeling.
And yes, I have complained about Budget and you go to other boards and have seem them also. It seems to be something that happens quite often with that company. I definetly would rent from Budget in the states as I have in Florida, but no more in STT.
I agree on never using Budget again based on my own experience.
I've used both Discount and Dependable. Both are great places but just so that you are fully aware, you do get what you pay for . . . Discount is cheaper but the cars aren't as nice as they are at Dependable. When we rented from Dependable we were in a new car that was very clean and in great shape - just like I would expect from a rental agency on the Mainland. The people at Discount are wonderful, very friendly and helpful but the cars are 'island cars.' We've used them many times but every time the cars are pretty beat up and sometimes there are mechanical issues (we had one that stalled a lot, no big deal - just had to randomly restart the car) but the cars work and get you where you're going.

Just wanted to say that we arrived yesterday and had reserved a car with Budget and everything went perfect. The lady at the counter was very nice and the jeep was new and very clean. We will definately rent from Budget again.
Discount would be my least preferred company to work with....Sorry Connie! They are nice people, but the process also seems to take a lot of extra time as well!

Was a real joy for me to be able to take you to your villa as your greeter!
When I talked to Alex at Discount, he said that the cars are 2007's. I can't obsess about these car rentals anymore, so I'm going with Discount. Going with 12 people is very hard and last time (as you know Sherri) I did everything from the airline tickets, the villa, the food, the car, getting us all to and from the airport, etc. This time I swore I was going to bow out and let everybody else do it.
I just have to stick to this and try to relax a little bit. Hopefully, I'll be lucky. I'm sure some of you can understand how I feel.
These cars from Discount just can't be any worse then the last car we had from Budget. As long as the car gets me where I want to go, I'll have to stick with this reservation.
