We are going back to st. thomas shortly. Has the mountain top bar, famous home of the Bushwhacker, been rebuilt since the fire?

No -- But there has been a total clearing of the slab -- some new rebar and cement columns poured - a few pallets of form lumber delivered and some set in place - since they are using the same slab and footprint I am GUESSing that it will be another retail operation not condos as had been speculated.

Yes, it is being rebuilt - there was a ceremony recently on the site officially proclaiming the decision - but no timetable was given in the article I read. No condos, the same attraction as the original but improved with better facilities. Sounds great!

When we were there last year they had moved the Bushwacker maker to the Botanical Gardens. That is if you are looking for the drink .8-)

Yea. That's what it was. . . the Banana Daiquiri. I guess I should watch my ETOH intake when touring. . . Things start to blur. :$) So what was Paradise Point?? Bushwhacker or Painkiller?

Here is an article about the rebuilding of Mountain Top: http://www.virginislandsdailynews.com/index.pl/article_home?id=17644118

The Painkiller is from Soggy Dollar Bar.

My husband and I are thinking about the Water Island Campground in September or October. Has anyone been there. How are the facilities and is there a convenience store for provisions? Any info would be very helpful!

We stopped by while hiking one day. The convenience store is closer to Honeymoon beach, but you are better off shopping on St Thomas and toting your stuff over. The facilities appear very nice.

The only "convenience store" on Water Island, Priates Ridge Deli is usually closed "Off-Season". Check their web site: piratesridge.com. Also, Heidi's Honeymoon Grill is on and off again during this time period mainly because she isusually very involved in the local Texas Chile Cookoff, and sometimes a trip to the Terlingua International Chili Championship if she is really on top of her game.

I've sent you a PM.
