Is there motorcycle rental on St Croix or St John? I only found one place on St Thomas and can you ferry it over to St Croix?
No motorcycles allowed on the passenger ferry to stx.
I'm not aware of any rentals on STX...ferrying over used to be an option on Sea-Trans, but they have eliminated letting cycles on the ferry recently...so, only other option is shipping, and you're probably looking at a couple hundred bucks just for that. Anyone else?
Lisa:
I don't know if you've ever been to STT or STJ. My guess, unless you are a motorcycle professional, is that you have not yet been.
The hills/mountains can be frightening in a 4X4 vehicle, let alone on a motorcycle. IMHO--Riding a motorcycle on either island would be very dangerous. There was a place to rent 250 dirt bikes on STJ a couple of years ago. We saw several of the bikes parked along the road when we were on STJ. It's like the renters got so scared they just bailed and left them.
Think about renting a 4X4 vehicle. These islands aren't the sort of place to have a pleasant moped or motorcycle ride.
Whatever you decide. . .have a fantastic vacation!

Thanks. Great advice. My husband will be driving and is very experienced, but it seems like there are no motorcycles (or mopeds?) to rent on St Croix anyway or there isn't a way to get it there from St John.
You can rent SCOOTERS, not motorcycles. Or you can rent DIRT BIKES. On St. John or St. Thomas. BUt I would offer this advice:
It is DIFFERENT here where riding is concerned. I've been riding motorcycles since I was very young, grew up in a "Patch-Holder" family and currently own both a '92 FXR and an '88 Sportster. Here the hills are your main concern, as well as defensive driving. The scooters you rent here are automatics. But riding on the islands is DANGEROUS, alot more so than in the states. I have no clue about STX, but as I've lived on both STJ and now on STT, I would seriously encourage you to get here, rent a car, DRIVE the islands, and THEN decide about riding. Find out what you're in for first.
Good luck and safe travels.....................
Dylan is right. The hills and turns on both islands are really tough and some of the roads aren't that great. You could be setting yourself up for some problems. I really think it's dangerous, especially if you don't know the roads. It's not like you can cruise down long straight roads...just won't happen.
Get a jeep 4x4 and keep the top down. It's alot safer.
