I was in Stj in October with friends for 2 weeks had the time of my life! We woke up to a 6.1 earthquake no problem then Omar showed up had to leave Coral Bay and stay at the Westin Omar passed us, could not wait to get back to Coral Bay! I loved everything so I am coming back in Jan. and Feb. The only thing I did not care for are the mosquito's! They loved me but I did not let them spoil my fun just had another painkiller or island ale yum! I also loved driving left and drinking right just had to watch out for the bad donkeys. I could go on and on about the things I loved.Just wondering if the mosquito's will be there in Jan. or Feb. or is this a hard question to answer because it depends on the rain?

Kim:

Probably......... yes.

However, your problem may be the no-see-ums.

Thank you I had a little problem with them too! I wish I did not love this island but I do so in Jan. and Feb. I will pretend that they are not biting me. It is 20 degrees here in St. Louis can't wait to leave after the 1st.

There are always mosquitos. Whether their population is at a 'normal' amount or whether they are all over the place has to do with rain. After a lot of rain their breeding grounds (stagnant water) multiply and so do they.

Rainier months include November, October and September (in that order).

Drier months are February, March and January (in that order).

With your plans to visit in January or February you will encounter mosquitos but likely not as many as you did in October.

Mesquitos loves me, too. if there is one, I for sure will get bitten before it is all over with.
i have purchased some bracelet made by OFF - used it back in June when I was there.
I did get bit couple of times, but I think the bracelet worked.
i saw it at cvs - came with three yellow coil bracelets.
Also places like Secret Harbour has some in the office - you just have to ask them.
Good luck!

I think this is what I had purchased - but I bought one with three in a package, and mine was in yellow.
I am sure color would not make any difference.
There are other types I saw on Internet by doing a search.
just trying to help.

The worst bites come from the no-see-ums any time after 4 pm at or near the beach.
