Hi,
Could anyone tell me more about these two hotels? Will be going with two of my sons, one is 21 and the other will be 17. Is the nightlife better at one or the other? Also how is the beach at Morningstar? From what I've read the water at the Ren is not so great. Yes, we will be going over to St. John etc., but also want a nice resort to just veg out at for a few days.

Hello Lorla,

For you and your sons I would say that maybe Morningstar would be better. Here is why: (Renaissance is mirky but the beach is beautiful and has lots of water sports - which might interest you boys.) Morningstar is a better beach, the water can be choppy but overall a great beach, it also has watersports - the booth is over in the left corner. Morningstar I think would keep your boys interested more, you can use the facilities at both Morningstar which includes the pool right by the beach, there is a beach bar, pool side bar, restaurants on the beachfront area, and there is a pool table/game room and music/dancing at Coco Joes. Also you can visit the Frenchmans Reef facilities as they are both Mariott properties and Frenchmans is just a walk up the hill OR a walk up some steps and an elevator. Frenchmans has large pool, swim up bar, restaurants, bars/dancing.... so there is more exploring possibilities.

In terms of location - Havensight is fairly close (a short drive) for Morningstar there are bars there - many play rock and roll type music, have food. Red Hook is a happenng spot also -which is closer to Renaissance - but nothing is really terriably far on St. Thomas, the island is not very big - so if you rent a car everything is acessiable.

Hope that helps. --Islander
