My husband and I have been renting the same villa in St john for the past three years. We decided to try a another villa, the Morningside near Ditleff. We would love to hear opinions (good & bad) of this villa from those who have stayed there.

Hi - Stayed there in 2003 and just loved it. We love staying on the south side of STJ. It is a wonderful villa for 2 as everything for 2 is so close on one level. There is a great pass-through from the kitchen to the pool deck and, as the LR and DR are open air, you will feel like the pool and jacuzzi is part of your living room. The LR stereo with multi-CD has speakers mounted high on the cathedral ceilings so you can hear your music while at the pool. At night, the pool deck lights extend your living area - they have some beautiful Donald Schnell Studio lanterns. You can practically reach on up and grab a star on clear nights. It is a good villa for sunrises - I sat out on the deck with coffee almost every morning and watched the sun come up over the hill to the east. The bedrooms have the better split system a/c. It's an easy villa to get into, paved main roads and a not overly steep driveway. The villa is just high enough to give you several views - open ocean, Ditliff Point and Klein/ Rendezvous Bay but low enought to also hear the waves. The landscaping is wonderful and there are fragrant flowers all around. There are several shoreline villas below but they do not interfere with the deck views. You can walk down to a beach access (pebble/sand) at Klein Bay or you can walk / drive over to the path to Ditliff Point (sand beach). I have heard that there is going to be a development at Ditliff (unfortunately) so you might want to inquire about the status of any construction and current access to the point. This is a comfortable villa but it is not one that is tricked out in the latest electronics, internet access, etc. unless that has been done since our stay. It does, however, have a great floorplan, great a/c in the bedrooms, great king-sized beds, open air tiled showers (accessed ethrough a glass door in the bathrooms), over-all beautiful views,a nice kitchen with easy access to the pool deck, a lovely pool with integrated jacuzzi. There is another nice villa in this neighborhood and price range - Latitude 10. It is constructed of the native blaurock, has a larger pool and decks on various levels. For two people, tho, I don't know that you can beat Morningside. Morningside's owner, Regan, posts on this board so, if you are renting through an agent, you may want to send him a PM with any questions. Have a wonderful time!

Sorry, I was having some kind of a senior moment, there - the other villa is Villa Latitude. I was confusing the name with something else called Latitude 110 and I even made a typo with that - geesh!!

Who do you rent Morningside or Latitude thru - they sound great! Is there a website for them?

We have had great success renting through Denise Wright at Online Vacations - www.onlinevacations.com. She has both villas and many additional listings. Re Morningside, the owners have their own website for additional pictures: www.morningsidevilla.com. BTW, that's our quote from the guestbook that appears on homepage of the owner's website. Villa Latitude is right up the road - I think it's situated a bit higher than Morningside but it has the similar Ditliff view. I think Opar and Monte Bay are two of the villas right below Morningside. If you find out anything about a development at Ditliff Point, please post. Thanks!
