Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether or not a moped rental would be a wise choice on St. Thomas. It sounds fun, but some have said that the roads would make it impossible. Is this really true, or are people over-exaggerating?
Also, would a moped have to go on a "car ferry" if I wanted to take it to St. John for a few hours? How much are those roundtrip? Are there any moped rental places in St. John if the ferries are expensive to take them over?
Any advice with cars or mopeds?
Thanks,
Brian
Looking for the same reponse. We too would like to rent a moped for the day but are planning on doing it regardless. Any thought?
Hello Brian,
A moped is an ok choice. The roads don't make it impossiable, they do make it riskier - particularly in the opinions of those that find comfort in having a car around you ;). I am one of those people. The roads are steep, curvy, small to no sides on roads, blind corners. There are several scooter rental companies so you do see visitors and a few residents riding around on them, not a whole lot, but some.
Scooters go on the car ferry. There are moped rentals on St. John. The car ferry is $35 with Captain Vic and $50 with General, round trip.
