*I am trying to find out the rules & requirements to install a mooring on St. John. Please let me know where I can get a copy of application instructions and procedures (Section 405-1) or the Booklet on Rules & Regulations for Mooring and Anchoring Vessels in the US Virgin Islands.

Thank you,

Hello Erica,

Did you read the mooring/anchorage section on this web site at

https://www.vinow.com/general_usvi/more_info/marinas/index.php

Mooring permits are issued to an owner of a registered vessel. In order to obtain a permit for anchoring or mooring an applicant is required to apply in person, through a resident agent or through any representative duly authorized to complete application procedures in the owner's behalf." Section 405-1 Application Instructions and Procedures for Mooring.

Information for anchorage sites and regulations was provided by the Department of Planning and Natural Resources Booklet on Rules and Regulations for Mooring and Anchoring Vessels in the US Virgin Islands.

Dept. Of Planning and Natural Resources tel # - (340)7743320 is the operator
(This is a government office, often times it takes two or three trys to get information from them or to speak to the right person; if this heppens be patient)

Erica:

Did you see my post re "Coral Bay Moorings"? I got the same response from Islander as you did. However, my primary interest is an off-season medium term rental or lease of a mooring that is already installed as I don't like to commit myself to staying at any one place too long. I contacted Lighthouse Marine on St. Thomas by E-mail and they install moorings. I have not yet spoken to them as I am still hopeful of finding something to rent first, but if you are interested you can contact Buzz at (340)771-5775. If your interest is in having a mooring installed, I believe Lighthouse could give you all of the information you need on permitting etc.

You might want to get in touch with Alan at Coral Bay Marine. He might know of someone in the bay who is leaving their mooring for a while and might want to rent it out. DPNR on STT might also lead you in the right direction. But I would get in touch with Alan or Sandy first. I don't have the phone number with me at this time but if I can find it at home I will post it.
