Is there an agency that has monthly car rental rates that is either on STJ or allows their vehicles to go there?

Try Budget or Dependable Car - they do monthly leases.
If you are going to be in STJ, then why not check there if they do monthly rentals/leases, especially in off season which is right around the corner.
If something happens to car in STJ, you have to deal with it as the STT agencies do not have offices there or mechanics.

Call Norris or Cheryl at First Rental Car across from the JetPort. I've rented from them for extended periods before for very reasonable rates and the discussion of St. John was never and issue... 340-776-3730, but Alana is right, somebody on St. John should be able to help you out.

Really? I didn't realize that.
Makes sense to rent in STT, then.

Yes Alana33, no STJ rental car companies allow their cars to be taken to STT and impose a $1,000 fine for doing so.

Good point, Pia - that would mean no airport pickups either!

That's quite the rip-off, not to mention unreasonable.
Thanks for the info as I and many others, I am sure, were not aware that was STJ's Car Rental Agencies policy.

Alana, it's always been thus, it's not something new. It's one of the reasons that many visitors do rent on St Thomas and pick up supplies on the way to St John as they can't make a trip over to pick up stuff if they rent on St John. I don't think it's a "rip-off" as I recall several years ago reading the reason why the St John agencies all prohibit their vehicles from being taken on the barge. Maybe Pia can fill in on that as I've forgotten!

I have hard time believing that the STJ agencies could enforce a $ 1000 fine. But I do not doubt that they would try...
