Hello all,
I'm new to the forum but I've been to STJ twice so far (just got married on Hawksnest beach in September). I'm from Vermont and it's starting to get cold up here so I'm missing the tropics something fierce. Thought I'd reach out to people who've been there, are going, or live there and live vicariously through you!

I've rented a villa in Coral Bay both times I've been and while I wouldn't say I've experienced a whole lot, I'm certainly willing to give opinions and advice to anyone looking for it. On that note, does anyone have any local news or stories to share?

To those of you planning your trips in the near future, I hope you have a wonderful time...I'm envious!

Cheers,
Alie

We'll be in St. Thomas the 10 & 11th of Feb. Then St. John the 12-20th. We are getting married on Valentine's Day in St. John.
As we get closer let's see who's going to be around and who wants to meet up. I'd love to put some faces with names I've met on this board.

If you're staying on the Coral Bay side, I highly recommend Sweet Plantains, on Rt 107 near the shopping area (Cocolobba?). We just came back, had dinner there one night and it was exquisite- very relaxed atmosphere, candlelit, outside european cafe type of setting and inside is like a small romantic home. The prices were up there and worth every bloody cent. I've eaten all over the world and the states and this was among the top 5 meals I've ever eaten. No ocean view, but you can see the bay if the evening is young. Good wine list, etc. Enjoy!

Karrieb, how long were you on St. John? Where did you stay? I have not heard of Sweet Plantains but you make it sound great! I would like to hear more about what you did and saw?

Jill, let us know what you arrange. If you are there the 12th it might be difficult, though.

Hi Jill
Where are you getting married on STJ? Didn't know if you knew that Anne Marie Porter holds her annual vow renewal "Celebration of Love" ceremony on Trunk Bay at 5:30 (sunset) There are upwards of 65 couples that participate. Just thought you might like to know just incase you were planning a wedding on Trunk it might not be as private as you think 🙂

Pia,
Thanks for the info on Anne Marie Porter, I had heard that already. We aren't planning on Trunk Bay we are still deciding between a few other beaches (Jumbie, Hawksnest to name a few)but it's in the a.m. regardless. Thanks for the info however.
