Lex: I read the Source article first thing this morning before I came onto this forum and it certainly is a great testament to this feisty lady - and I say "feisty" in the best way possible. The older generation is too often timid about sharing their views and life experiences and the younger generations too often think that they know everything and simply aren't interested, shutting off the old-timers with a cursory shrug. As Ziggie Marley so aptly sang, "You don't know your past, you don't know your future!" Thanks for posting. Cheers!

I really enjoyed reading Guy Benjamin's book about growing up on STJ. The world has changed so much in the lifetime of any of our seniors, but the changes on the islands have been even more dramatic than in many places on the mainland.

So many things have changed. I still can't go to St. John without thinking about Miss Lucy and her taxi. I wonder how many here even know or remember the time when St. John was a peaceful quiet haven - or her taxi!

I remember it well. We were fortunate to have Miss Lucy as our guide and driver. Will never forget the goat horns decorated with flowers. Every time we went back to STJ we purposely looked for her. A true lady who will not soon be forgotten. As mentioned in one of the posts above she and Mr. Benjamin are very special people. They are the "old" STJ.
I must say some of the friends that I have made through church affiliations rank in that category of special people.

Tradewinds has a brief article about her "Going Home Celebration" with a couple photos:
