Almost time for my trip to paradise...8 days away! ( : Can someone give me alittle info on Miss Lucy's? I missed it last trip and definitely want to check it out this trip? I drive around Coral Bay and up on the way to Salt Pond..right? Will I run into it easily? I read somewhere that if you were on STJ during a full moon that Miss Lucy's was a must for that evening. Anyone know why this is? Thanks!

Yup, you have the correct directions. While driving out to Salt Pond, Miss Lucy's will be on your left. You will see the sign first as the restaurant is set back off the road. It is open for lunch and dinner and Sunday brunch from 10-3 (?).

The Full Moon party is great as the view of the full moon over the water is fantastic from the patio. They have a live band, a buffet and it's laid back....not crazy. There are very few outside tables and it's become very popular so you must get there early (like 5-5.30pm for 6.00pm dinner).

Hubby and I arrived at 6.00pm and didn't want to sit inside so decided instead to head back up to our villa overlooking the same exact view after dinner at Shipwreck landing.

I love Miss Lucy's at lunch time cuz that's when the view is best and the goats are out. It's quite an experience to dine with the goats. Our first time, we were the only people there for lunch and three goats came right over to the table, put front hooves ON the table and stole ALL the sugar packets! Hubby and I were stunned. It's been our favorite place for lunch ever since.

Miss Lucy's is a restaurant outside of Coral Bay heading toward Salt Pond. It will be on your left (the bay side) as you go toward Salt Pond. Miss Lucy herself is an island institution who once was the only woman taxi driver on STJ.

They have a monthly full moon "party". "Party" may be the wrong word, because it's dinner with music and doesn't have a wild party atmosphere at all. It's a nice location (as long as you're seated outside). No reservations, so get there early. You get the ful moon rising. Quite a sight. For myself, I'd go the day before or after the full moon. Get the view, but don't have to deal with it being so crowded.

Several places in the BVI have much wilder full moon parties.

I think you can make a dinner reservation, at least on a "normal" night. So you might want to do that since sitting outside on their patio is (imho) much nicer than their inside seating.

Tip: get the conch fritters & Kallaloo soup (the later if you're a spinach/okra/crab fan).

I called Miss Lucy's to ask about reservations on the full moon night, which for our trip will be Thursday 4/13, and was nicely informed that they don't take reservations for that night. Another board member told me that he thinks the band scheduled that night is classic rock n' roll. Send me a private message (I think you will need to register first) if you want to have a toast with me and the hubby by the light of the full moon on St. John.

Miss Lucy's usually closes for a time in July - does anyone know if/when this will happen this year? We have never made it there as she has been closed during all three of our visits 🙁

I have the impression that not even Lucy is sure when she's going to close yet. She does close from sometime in late summer through sometime in the fall. It seems to vary from year to year, probably depending on a variety of things.

Hi - I read that you will be in St. John in July - I did some research since I am also going to St. John and the full moon is July 11th - My trip is July 8th to the 15th but I will have to check at a later date to see if she will be open at that time.

Thanks! We'll be there on the 13th, so unfortunately we'll just miss the full moon.

How do I find out if there's a full moon anytime 6/6-6/13?
Think I might like to visit Miss Lucys too.

Miss. Lucy's is great in the afternoon while on a road trip around St. John. I am not a particular fan of rum punch but she makes the best!! Conch fritters are a must also. You can sit outside and listen to the waves lapping up against the shore.... aaahhh

Full moon parties are a tradition in the VIs - the BVIs especially. They can be pretty rowdy (Re: Bomba Shack on Tortola), but from what I've read, Miss Lucy's parties are pretty subdued. We'll be arriving on July 13 and staying at Estate Concordia for the first part of our trip, so maybe we'll try to hit Miss Lucy's that night when the moon still pretty full.

I will be visiting July 1-8 and definitely want to go to Miss Lucy's based on the information on the message board. Some people say the brunch on Sunday is the best, but the Rum Punch and conch fritters sound great also. Give me your opinions please!

We've been to Miss Lucy's for Sunday Brunch a couple of times , but have not been to Miss Lucy's for the Full Moon party yet. We are however, arriving on 5/13 (Full Moon) and hope we can get there in time to get a table that evening for he show, as we're staying in Coral Bay. Please let us know if any others are going to be there. We will have four thirsty mainlanders looking for some fantastic views, fun people and good converstion.
